The Mikumi floodplain with its open grassland dominates the park together with the mountain ranges that border the park on two sides. The park provides an excellent opportunity to view a diverse number of animals and birds in a short period of time without too much driving around. The wildlife viewing experience in this park can be experienced right upon entering the park where you can encounter baboons, zebras, impalas and many more wild animals.

Day 1: Flight to Mikumi National Park

06:00 AM – Domestic Flight Departure
07:00 AM – Arrival at Mikumi National Park (Kikoboga Airstrip)


Depart very early from your hotel at 0400 am. Drive directly to Zanzibar Airport for your domestic flight. Mikumi National Park provides an excellent opportunity to view a diverse number of wildlife and many species of birds in a short period of time without too much of driving around inside the park. You will have the opportunity to view the unique Mikumi Giraffes that naturalists say seem to be a cross breed between reticulated and Maasai Giraffe, Antelope, Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Hyena, Wildebeest, Wild Dog, Zebra, Leopard can be easily supported in this park.
