Tanzania's 10-Day Safari Adventure: Explore, Relax, and Immerse in Wildlife
Join this exciting 10 -day safari holiday in Tanzania! During this safari, you will go on extensive game drives in Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara national Park; you will have the opportunity to spot wildlife in their natural habitat and explore the magnificent Tanzania national parks as well as relaxing and enjoying the nature.
This private safari offers you the flexibility to travel at your own pace, exactly the way you like it. You will have a private safari vehicle and guide. The hotels we selected for you during this safari are comfortable if you prefer luxury we can quote you separately.
Day 1: Arrival – and Warm Welcome in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be met by our company representative driver and transferred to Gran Melia Hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight. Get relaxed into your accommodation, ready to start your safari proper in the morning. If time permits, a complimentary town tour can be arranged.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at the hotel and a short safari briefing, you will drive to Tarangire for a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad). Have a glass of wine, or tea and coffee after lunch before continuing with the game drive. In the evening, drive to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Tarangire National Park is located slightly off the main safari route and is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania. It is most famous for its elephant migration, birding, and quiet authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travelers to the region either miss out on Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for only a matter of hours, leaving parts of Tarangire virtually untouched.
Day 3: Full Day; Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will have a morning walking safari in the park escorted by an armed ranger. This is followed by a game drive. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad). Have a glass of wine, or tea and coffee after lunch before continuing with the game drive. In the evening, drive to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Here, you will find herds of up to 300 elephants scratching the dry riverbed for underground streams. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem (a smorgasbord for predators). It is also the only place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.
Day 4: Tarangire – Manyara National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, drive to Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad). Have a glass of wine, or tea and coffee after lunch before continuing with the game drive. In the evening, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively-tusked elephants.
Day 5: Manyara – Serengeti National Park
Depart from the lodge and head toward Serengeti National Park across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (Loduare Gate). The stretch of road towards the park’s gate offers a fantastic opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat, often during migration including wildebeest, zebra, impalas, and lions
We will have a picnic lunch at the gate of Serengeti National Park (Naabi Gate) where you will also follow a trail to the top of the hill which boasts stunning views over the famous Serengeti. With game drive en route, we will head for dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge.
Day 6: Full Day at Serengeti National Park
A full day game drives around Serengeti. Depending on the year and immigration of the herds you can expect a lot to see wildebeest animals. With your picnic lunch you will leave the camp in the morning and start your game drive till late afternoon. Later in the evening you will have another game drive for sightseeing, photographing animals towards the sun set.
Apart from the Big Five the Serengeti boasts the cheetah, jackal, hyena, serval, aardvark, pangolin, porcupine, crocodiles, giraffe, python, black mamba, spitting cobra, ostrich, martial eagle, lovebirds and vultures, just to name a few. Enjoy this supreme game viewing and return to your camp for dinner
Day 7: Extended Full Day at Serengeti National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, go on a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park searching for big cats and the Big Five. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad)
Have a glass of wine, or tea and coffee after lunch before continuing with the game drive. In the evening, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
The great migration is when a million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfill its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. It is a frenzied 3-week bout of territorial conquests and mating. It is survival of the fittest as 40km (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north, replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily. Then, the 1,000km (600 miles) pilgrimage begins again.
Day 8: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
We will begin our journey in the morning where we can capture an abundance of animals as the sunrises over the Serengeti plains.
We will enjoy the game drive at Serengeti National Park in the rolling grasslands, dotted with wildlife, zebras, impalas, hippos in their pools. In the afternoon we will head towards Ngorongoro and visit the Maasai Boma on our way, dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Eyasi
After breakfast you will descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater often described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting
As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. High walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. Before drive back to Arusha will visit Lake Eyasi for another unforgettable adventure, dinner and overnight Kisima Ngeda Camp
Day 10: Bushman Visit and Departure
After breakfast, we visit the Datoga and Bushmen tribes and experience their hunting activities. In the afternoon, we return to the lodge for lunch, thereafter we drive back to Arusha for a drop-off at the airport. Small groups of Hadzabe Bushmen live around Lake Eyasi. Their language resembles the click languages of other Bushmen further south in the Kalahari
Their small population was seriously threatened, in particular during the period when Julius Nyerere tried to introduce his Ujuma policy. You like to extend your safari with a beach holiday? Tanzania offers perfect paradises to unwind after your safari such as Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia.
